I am enlisted in the army on the 22 OCT 2001. I had mixed feelings about National Service. It would be a two and a half years distruption from a normal (civilian) lifestyle.
The day finally came. My family accompanied me to the ferry terminal where I would be transported to Tekong island for training. I was posted to an obese company. There, I begin my 4 months of BMT. Life was... TERRIBLE! :P I hate the language used there but it is the way of life. I hate regimental life but there is nothng much I can do. Some of my superiors are nice but most are :P
In this environment, I stick to my strong convictions to use proper language to speak and maintain my choice of diet.
On the whole, I met a few people whom I can get along with. There we became good friends after passing out from BMT and posted to the same unit.
I am posted to OPFOR COY in ATEC. I am surppose to be train as an aggressor to fight against the battalions as our unit conducts evaluations. However, I was put out-of-course due to my leg injuries. 2 months later, my OC attached me to ATEC HQ. There, I spend the rest of my NS life until I ORD.
At HQ, I know a few clerks, medics and storemen. We have fun and we worked hard. I had the opportunity to go overseas too! Life is not so bad.
NS, although is not pleasant all the time, have taught me to be more careful, discipline and street-smart. It is an self-realisation and exploration opportunity that school cannot provide. It is a special moment in my life that I will always remember.

I have never expected myself to lead a vegetarian lifestyle, let alone pledging to be a life-long vegetarian. Meat had always been the top priority on my menu. I cannot imagine life without meat. However, this imagination has become a reality and I am still living well without the daily consumption of flesh!
So, you wanna know more about me yeah...
